Dear Praying Friends and Family,
First Things First: A safe, functional, stable home is imperative for the long haul on the mission field. That is why my short list of initial objectives included: 1) obtaining our residency permits, 2) securing a good water source, and 3) setting up our home for safety and functionality. We have made good progress, but, after three months, we are still working on the list. I am so thankful and relieved that we now have an abundant source of good clean water. We were able to tap into an existing well and upgrade our pump and water lines. It took a lot of resources, but it is such a blessing that the water project is now completed. The backup power system was worth the wait and has made a huge difference in our ability to function. I believe that we would have set ourselves up for failure if we had hurried back to the field. I’m glad we waited for the Lord’s provision and installation of our inverter system. They have been rationing the power supply and winter hasn’t even hit yet. The electricity is off 12-13 hours a day and they say it is going to get worse. We thank God for all of you who gave so that we could have heat, water, and electricity.
Church Update: Transitioning from pastor-pioneer-founder of a church to taking a backseat to national leadership was new and awkward at first. Thank God, neither Pastor Alexei nor I feel that one of us needs to leave in order for the church to grow. We have found our niche and our relationship with our church is strong as ever. I am preaching an English service for my family and anyone else who would like to attend. I still preach as occasion requires, in the Russian language, with no problems. People in our area still converse in Russian but Ukrainian is emerging more and more in local dialogue. After we have finished all the necessary paperwork for my family to legally reside in Ukraine we plan to celebrate our church’s anniversary. 2026 will mark the completion of 30 years of ministry since her beginning in 1995. All glory be to God!
In our next letter I’ll include more about our plans and prayers for the future in Ukraine as the war continues with no end in sight. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support allowing us the privilege to serve the Lord Jesus Christ on the mission field. May the Lord bless you.
That Ukraine May Know Him,
Christopher Rue
